New Moon DVD Comes Out March 20th!

Fandango reports:

Before we begin, you’re gonna need to get out a calendar and the biggest red marker you can find. Go…I’ll wait here.

Waiting…

Okay, got it? Good. Now turn to the month of March and draw a big fat circle around March 20th because that’s the day The Twilight Saga: New Moon will hit DVD and Blu-ray. But Erik, you say – isn’t March 20th a Saturday? And don’t DVDs usually get released on a Tuesday? Yes, they usually do – but with a DVD this big, retailers want to host some snazzy midnight release parties, which means they need a time when the kids won’t have to get up for school the next day.

So there it is – March 20th. I imagine you want to know what your purchasing options are, right? Well, they haven’t released all the details yet, but here’s what we do know: you’ll be able to pick up either a Two-Disc Special Edition DVD or a Special Edition Blu-ray – both of which will include the following:

Audio Commentary by director Chris Weitz and editor Peter Lambert

Six-Part Documentary takes you behind the scenes of the film

Rehearsal Footage with Muse, who is featured on the hit soundtrack

Three Music Videos from Death Cab for Cutie, Anya Marina and Mute Math

The press release does promise more, so there’s still a chance for some tasty deleted scenes, though chances are they’re saving those for another edition. The pre-sale begins on January 26th, just so you early birds are aware.

New Moon Soundtrack Details

ETonline reports:

The first single for ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’ soundtrack has officially been confirmed, according to ‘Twilight’ author Stephenie Meyer’s blog.

Indie band Death Cab for Cutie — fronted by Ben Gibbard, fiancee to actress Zooey Deschanel — has written a song exclusively for the vampire sequel titled “Meet Me On the Equinox” and will debut the single live at the MTV VMA Awards on September 13, music Web site Pitchfork.com reports.

Meyer’s posted a statement from the Seattle based band on her blog describing the single: “We are very excited to be a part of this amazing series of novels set in our own backyard. It just seemed a perfect synergy that a band from the Northwest would create a song for a series of novels set in the Northwest.

We wrote ‘Meet Me On the Equinox’ to reflect the celestial themes and motifs that run throughout the ‘Twilight’ series and we wanted to capture that desperate feeling of endings and beginnings that so strongly affect the main characters. This song marks the first attempt that Death Cab for Cutie has ever made at contributing new, unreleased material for a film and we are proud to be a part of the ‘Twilight’ legacy.”

Be sure to check out the single on September 13 during the MTV VMA’s!

Chris confirms New Moon soundtrack rumors

HitFlix posted an article with Chris Weitz giving information on the soundtrack!

Director Chris Weitz has confirmed to HitFix.com that Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and Bon Iver will be contributing all-new tracks to the film “Twilight Saga: New Moon.”

“I selfishly want to put songs in by artists I love. And some the cast and crew also happen to love,” says Weitz. “I think [Bon Iver] is fantastic. He says he wrote it for the film, but who ever knows if it might just be something laying around in his cupboard.”

Weitz mentioned that he will be listening to Yorke’s new track tomorrow (July 24) and “unless it’s sounds of him belching, I think I’ll put it in.”

The comments came during the “Twilight” sequel cast and crew interviews at Comic-Con in San Diego, the multi-day fest at the Convention Center.

British rock group Band Of Skulls — who have lately been opening for Spinnerette — will also be included and Weitz still is “hoping to get Kings Of Leon.”

As previously reported, Alexandre Desplat will be scoring the film, the sounds of which Weitz describes as “lush. That’s how I wanted the cinematography to be.”

New Moon Soundtrack Rumors

Entertainment Weekly has a new article on speculation over the New Moon soundtrack.

Speculation about who will appear on the New Moon soundtrack heated up this week after director Chris Weitz dropped a few big names to a RottenTomatoes.com interviewer: “The criterion will still always be what’s right for the movie at that given moment, but Thom Yorke is interested; we might, if we’re very lucky, get Kings of Leon to do something.” Well, well!

But don’t get too excited just yet. Yorke’s camp would neither confirm nor deny the Radiohead frontman’s reported involvement to EW at this time. The Kings of Leon connection, meanwhile, seems even more tenuous. “Not as of right now, no,” KoL lead singer Caleb Followill tells EW’s Whitney Pastorek when asked if his band will contribute to the Twilight sequel. “I haven’t had any time to write any music, we’ve been so busy… I would have to write a song in my hotel room, which I think we might could do, but I don’t know. As of right now I’m more focused on getting some rest and writing another album.”
