New Stephenie Meyer Twilight Book Entitled The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella

Posted on 30th March 2010 in Uncategorized

USA Today reports:

Brace yourself, Twilight fans. A new book from Stephenie Meyer is on the horizon. The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella will be released at 12:01 a.m. June 5.

The 192-page story, an offshoot of the third novel in Meyer’s best-selling teen vampire Twilight saga, has a first printing of 1.5 million. It’s the first new Twilight title since Breaking Dawn, Book 4, was published two years ago.

The new novella is told in the voice of the teenage Bree, a “newborn vampire” whom we meet on page 569 in Eclipse. Ten pages later, she’s dead.

“I started writing this a long time ago,” Meyer said in an exclusive interview with USA TODAY. “It was when I was editing Eclipse. It was more of just an exercise so I could be clear about what was going on in the story.”

The Twilight novels are told from the perspective of Bella, who falls in love with the vampire Edward Cullen.

“There’s only so much stuff you can tell when what Bella sees and hears is all you can tell,” Meyer says.

Bree is part of an army of newborn vampires created by Cullen family nemesis Victoria. Thirsty for revenge after the Cullens kill her vampire lover James, Victoria’s plan is to use her army to kill the Cullens and Bella.

“The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner is pretty much contained in the last week of the newborns’ existence before the big fight (between the Cullens and the vampire army) in the meadow in Eclipse,” Meyer says. “It’s the last week before Bree dies.”

In the novella, Meyer says, Bree has been a vampire for about three months. No other details are being released.

Xavier Samuel Films Eclipse Opening Scene

Posted on 11th October 2009 in Uncategorized

This is Xavier Samuel on Wednesday night shooting Twilight Eclipse soaking wet, filming in the fake rain over and over again. My source tells me he’s wearing a wetsuit under those clothes to stay dry/warm(er). This is why he appears to be a little more robust. As you’ve seen from his candids, Samuel is rather slight.

Here’s a juicy detail: I’m told exclusively that Xavier is working on what’s currently intended (at press time) to be the OPENING SCENE in Eclipse. “Riley” in human form is being terrorised down an alley in Seattle pursued by a sinister shadow which turns out to be “Victoria”. He cannot outrun her, she attacks him, and as you can see from the exclusive video below (from PUNKD Images) he writhes in pain from being bitten.

Once Again: Twilight VS Harry Potter

Posted on 16th August 2009 in Uncategorized

Check out this MSN article about the Twilight VS Harry Potter face-off, courtesy of Brandi from MTSB:

“Twilight” or “Harry Potter”—do I really have to choose? Because I can’t, I really can’t! But…I can certainly talk up the merits of one or the other. Seeing as I’m the Twilight Superfan, well I’m going to talk up the vampires, duh. If you’ve been a regular visitor to this site, you know I loves me some stone-cold bloodsuckers; especially the ones with bronze hair and velvety voices. So let’s talk about why “Twilight” is what it is—a story that has captivated millions and created an immense fan base with an intense and passionate case of OCD (Obsessive Cullen Disorder).

So how does this face-off work? I’ve joined forces with Becky and Mae, the Harry Potter Superfans, to compare “Twilight” with “Harry Potter” on select categories, including friendship, romance, fantasy elements, writing style, and main conflict. Plus, we face off on Hermione vs. Bella and Harry vs. Edward. I want to hear who YOU think won each round in the comments!

Spoiler Alert: If you haven’t read the whole series yet, be warned; this Face-off is full of spoilers!

Summit Responds to Rachelle’s Statement

Posted on 30th July 2009 in Uncategorized

We at Summit Entertainment are disappointed by Rachelle Lefevre’s recent comments which attempt to make her career choices the fault of the Studio. Her decision to discuss her version of the scheduling challenges publicly has forced the Studio to set the record straight and correct the facts.

Ms. Lefevre’s representatives were advised as early as April that THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE was expected to start shooting in early August.

If Ms. Lefevre was, as she describes “passionate,” about being part of THE TWILIGHT SAGA, we feel that she and her representatives would have included us in her decision to work on another film that would conflict with the shooting schedule of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE.

It was not until July 20th that Summit was first informed of Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to BARNEY’S VERSION, a commitment we have since been advised she accepted in early June. Summit had acted in good faith that she would be available to fulfill her obligations both in terms of rehearsals and shooting availability for THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE. We feel that her choice to withhold her scheduling conflict information from us can be viewed as a lack of cooperative spirit which affected the entire production.

Furthermore Ms. Lefevre took a role in the other film that places her in Europe during the required rehearsal time, and at least ten days of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE’s principal photography. This period is essential for both rehearsal time with the cast, and for filming at key locations that are only available during the initial part of production.

Contrary to Ms. Lefevre’s statement, it is simply untrue that the Studio dismissed her over a ten day overlap. It is not about a ten day overlap, but instead about the fact that THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE is an ensemble production that has to accommodate the schedules of numerous actors while respecting the established creative vision of the filmmaker and most importantly the story.
The fact remains that Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to the other project – which she chose to withhold from Summit until the last possible moment – makes her unfortunately unavailable to perform the role of Victoria in THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE.

Also, if you would like to contact either Summit Entertainment or Rachelle, you may utilize the following addresses:

However, you can legally download the Pilot episode from iTunes free here, or watch it justly on YouTube here.

Who should play Alec in New Moon movie?

Posted on 24th January 2009 in Uncategorized

“With Dakota Fanning tapped for the role of Volturi vampire Jane in Twilight sequel New Moon, the casting of Alec, Jane’s undead twin brother, is director Chris Weitz’s next challenge. Compared to Jane, “his hair was darker, and his lips were not as full, but he was just as lovely,” writes author Stephenie Meyer of Alec in New Moon.

Possessing the ability to numb a victim’s senses, quiet but deadly Alec could be well-played by Tom Felton, best known as Harry Potter’s foe Draco Malfoy. Some other suggestions? High School Musical’s Lucas Grabeel could follow his serious turn in Milk with an even darker one as the bloodsucker. And French actor Gaspard Ulliel of Hannibal Rising would bring a terrifying pedigree to the character, while Freddie Highmore, who sweetly stole scenes in Willy Wonka and Finding Neverland, could bring out his bad side.”

Check out the People article here. Comment and let us know what you think: Who should play the evil vampire Alec?

Taylor Lautner Not Starring In New Moon?

Posted on 13th December 2008 in Uncategorized

“The role of Jacob is now up for grabs as Taylor Lautner will not be reprising it in the sequel. Summit Entertainment deemed him too young-looking and slight of frame to play the maturing werewolf.

So now, the hunt for a Native American young man who fits the description of Jacob Black AND who demonstrates incredible chemistry with Kristen Bell is on.”

Check out the article here. Of course, the article mixes up Kristen Bell with Kristen Stewart, so it might not be accurate. Still, there’s a lot of rumors circulating about Taylor Lautner being replaced as Jacob in the New Moon movie, so help by participating in our Taylor Lautner Appreciation Project: get more info here.
