First of all, I loved it. I’m writing this on Friday, Nov. 21st at 7 PM, and I’ve already seen the movie twice.
Things I Loved:
-Kristen Stewart’s acting. OMFG. I honestly wasn’t expecting much from her as Bella, but she COMPLETELY proved him me wrong. She’s an amazing Bella.
-Bella hitting Jacob with the car door. Best. Moment. Ever.
-Rosalie: “Does she even like Italian?” Emmett: “Well her name is Bella.” Bahahahahah!
-When Bella tells Charlie about her date with Edward while he’s loading his gun. “Well, bring him in.” HA!
-Charlie and Billy. They were both amazing. Charlie’s scene with Bella when she had to leave with Edward to run away from James… Wow. His acting was amazing. And Billy was great too, and for me he seemed like an even more enjoyable character than he did in the book.
-The Baseball scene. And every other scene which included all of the Cullens (although I wish there were more!).
-Bella: “You’ve got to give me some answers.” Edward: “Yes… No… To get to the other side…” haha!
-Stephenie Meyer! It should have occurred to me that she was going to be in it (I’ve seen those videos of her on the set with her hair and makeup done), but it just didn’t, so I was very pleasantly surprised when I saw her sitting in the restaurant!
-The scene where Bella and Edward get out of his car and walk through the school parking lot together. And he puts his arm around her saying something like, “I’m already going to hell, I mind as well do it thoroughly.”
-Jacob. He’s gorgeous and he can ACT! I sure can’t wait for New Moon. (Oh, and when Billy and Jacob show up at Bella’s house and Billy tells her that Jacob has been asking to come see her, and he’s all embarassed… And Billy says that he’s just keepin’ it real. Hahaha.)
-When Bella is at prom waiting for Edward to park the car and Jacob shows up. Then Edward comes back and they stare each other down. I could FEEL the testosterone in the air haha! I loved it, and that part made me so much more (if that’s possible) excited for the second movie, and third.
-Mike, Eric, and Jessica. They were really fun to watch, not to mention hilarious at many instances throughout the movie. Mike shaking his butt behind the window behind Bella when she’s eating in the restaurant with her father. Eric calling her “baby” near the beginning of the movie. The thing about Jessica’s boobs looking good in her prom dress, and how they signaled to each other at the dance. Angela was pleasant too, but she didn’t stand out as much as the others did for me.
-When Charlie comes to visit Bella in the hospital and Tyler is in the bed next to hers apologizing constantly, and Charlie threatens to take his license away and then suddenly closes the curtains between their beds while he’s apologizing. That was hilarious.
Things I Didn’t Love:
-Robert Pattinson’s acting. The whole biology scene where Bella first shows up and the fan blows her scent towards him and he covers his nose… ugh, it wasn’t good. He had his moment, but overall I expected way more from him as Edward. Oh, and he should have shaved his chest and gotten abs too.
-The meadow “scene”. You can barely call it a scene, really. It lasted two seconds and nothing happened. I mean, it was cute to see them laying there together, but at the same time it seemed kinda pointless in comparison to how awesome that scene could have been like it was in the book. Same with the Lullaby scene as well.
-The script. Honestly, I know a bit about screenwriting myself, and while I probably couldn’t have done, I feel like someone could have. Some of the lines were just awkwardly placed and/or seemed forced. The best example is the “brand of heroin” line. :/
-Jasper’s face. I don’t need to describe it; you know it. It was hilarious, but more in a weird-negative way than any sort of positive way. And as Jessica put it, he’s “the tall blonde one who always looks like he’s in pain.” (That joke was funny at least!)
-The missing airport scene near the end. I remember that point in the story being SO climactic, but it didn’t feel like that in the movie at all. I wanted more there.
-When they showed close-ups of their eyes, which occurred quite often, you could see the outer rims of their contacts. I didn’t notice this until the second time I watched the movie, but then I saw it a lot. I just feel like they should have maybe taken that into consideration when choosing those super-close shots and at least attempted to edit out those lines? Not on every shot of course, I’m just talking about the ones where the camera showed just their eyes.
